Coconut Oil Lotion and Other Natural Moisturizers

One of the best moisturizers for all skin types, especially dry, is coconut oil. It is derived from ripe coconut meat and is used for cooking and as a lubricant, often for the skin. There may even be some benefits from the ingestion of natural coconut oil. If you are looking for coconut oil lotion, there are many places to find it. You may come across it on the shelves of health food or whole food stores. There are many online retailers who sell handmade coconut oil. Also many tanning lotions are enriched with coconut oil. For problem areas like feet and heels, slip on cotton socks after moisturizing. Also, moisturizing directly after showering while skin is still moist can help lock in moisture.

There are other natural moisturizers that you may want to consider as well. Olive oil lotion is becoming increasingly popular, as is the use of extra virgin olive oil on its own for skin and hair moisturizing. You may want to use a blend that contains all the major moisturizers, like coconut oil, shea butter, olive oil and other ingredients like vitamin E. Body butters made from shea butter, cocoa butter and avocado are ideal for super dry skin. They have a consistency like butter, are warmed between the palms and applied to the skin for ultra hydration. Whether you prefer lotion, cream, or body butter what's important is that you are regularly moisturizing the skin on your body to keep it soft and supple.
